If you have a friend or family member who is in prison, the best method to stay connected with them is through an inmate texting app. These apps are specifically made to be compliant with prison regulations and permit family members and friends to send and receive messages images, photos, eCards video calls, as well as money into their trust accounts in prison. In addition to these messaging apps, there are a number of federal inmate apps that provide additional services, such as video visits and phone calls.
JPay is one example. It allows friends and family members to send money directly into an federal inmate text app inmate’s trust account as well as videos, emails, photos and electronic cards. It also lets them design personalized postcards that include personal photos. It's a safe and more secure alternative to traditional postal mail.
Another popular texting app for inmates is GettingOut that provides "simple and reliable communication" between inmates and their loved ones. It costs inmates $0.25 for a message and loved ones pay for the data used to view their messages (but not for explicit images).
